Hip & Knee Low Prevalence in Active Marathon Runners
In the paper below they conclude that recreational runners have a lower incidence of OA than competitive/elite runners

The key is; if you’re a runner, whether recreational or competitive, you have a lower risk of developing hip and knee OA than someone that sits on their back side and does nothing! Other factors such as previous injury, nutrition, hydration, pre existing co-morbidity, sex and weight may alter this though.
